The soil changes as you cross the region
This service area spans a real geological gradient, and it shows up in the work. Selma and the southwest sit in the Black Belt's heart, where vertisol clays are deepest and their seasonal volume change is greatest — the highest-amplitude soil we work on. Montgomery, Prattville, and Pike Road sit along its edge, with the classic swell-shrink cycle moderated somewhat but still dominant. Clanton straddles the transition to sandier upland soils, where drainage-only solutions succeed far more often. Troy, south of the core, generally moves less than the metro average. Wetumpka is its own case entirely, sitting on the disturbed geology of an ancient impact structure where conditions vary lot to lot.
That gradient is why we don't quote a standard pier depth across the region. Each page above reads its own ground — and the evaluation reads your specific lot.
Two housing eras, everywhere we go
Across all ten communities the same split repeats: older homes on brick pier-and-beam foundations, and mid-century-through-modern construction on slab-on-grade. The clay treats them identically; the repairs differ completely. Pier-and-beam houses get pier, sill, and girder work with preservation-grade care on historic stock. Slab houses get perimeter piering, interior support, or leveling depending on where the floor survey finds the low points. The evaluation identifies which house you own before anyone prices anything.
Somewhere between towns, or just outside this list? Ask — regional travel gets quoted honestly.
